India has such a wide range of climatic factors that it's impossible to pin down the best time to visit weather-wise with any certainty. Most of India has three seasons:

Indian has three major seasons – summer, winter and monsoon. The winter season (November to February) is pleasant throughout the country. Regions of North India remain moderately to extremely cold during winters. So it is the best time for tourists to visit India. The summer season (April to June) is hot in most part of the country. Tourists can visit principal Hill Stations of India during this season. The popular Hill Stations are Darjeeling, Shillong (North East Part), Shimla, Kulu, Manali, Mussoorie, Nainital and the Kashmir Valley (North India Part), Ooty, Yearcad and Kodaikanal (South India Part), Panchmari, Mount Abu and Khandala (Central & Western India Part) provide cool respite.

A. Cool Season - October to February.
B. Hot season - March to June.
C. Rainy / Monsoon - monsoons start from mid June to September.
